The successful candidate will support the Team Head in overseeing risk and control management within the Group Wholesale Banking (GWB) function. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, strengthens risk governance, and enhances operational efficiency across Singapore and overseas locations. The role involves providing advisory, monitoring emerging risks, implementing risk mitigation measures, and promoting a strong risk culture across business units.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance & Risk Framework
- Formulate and strengthen governance across risk frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including anti-money laundering regulations.
- Review and provide advisories on Business Units policies and guidelines.
- Monitor key emerging risks in GWB and the industry, proposing appropriate risk mitigation measures.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to prioritize risk reviews based on control criticality, emerging risks, and regulatory focus.
- Challenge internal stakeholders effectively on existing controls and risk practices.
- Provide guidance to BRCM teams in overseas locations on the Group's risk initiatives and best practices.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor the effectiveness of controls across Business Units/Support Units using dashboards, audit reports, and scorecards.
- Prepare comprehensive risk management reports for senior management, regulators, and external auditors.
- Ensure potential risk issues highlighted by Group Operational Risk, Group Compliance, and Group Audit are addressed appropriately.
Risk Analytics & Operational Efficiency
- Collaborate with BU/GWB Data Analytics teams to support risk management initiatives and enhance proactive risk identification.
- Support risk identification, escalation, and remediation across business and support units.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency using data-driven insights.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Conduct risk awareness training and share updates on regulatory changes, risk frameworks, and best practices.
- Keep GWB teams updated on latest developments in risk management and regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements:
- Degree or professional qualification in business, banking, or financial services.
- Certification in regulatory compliance and/or anti-financial crimes is mandatory.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in audit, regulatory compliance, or Line 1 Risk and Control roles in corporate/wholesale banking.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore regulations, especially on anti-financial crimes.
- Experience in risk/control design, assessment, and regulatory compliance within financial institutions.
- Exposure to Southeast Asia regulatory frameworks is preferred.
- Prior experience in project/change management and process engineering is an advantage.
- Data management and analytics experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel macros or basic programming skills is advantageous.
