Job Description

The role is part of the Business Risk and Control Management (BRCM) Anti-Financial Crime team within Group Retail. The incumbent will ensure robust AML risk governance, regulatory compliance, and effective risk mitigation across retail banking segments and products. The position involves advising business units, driving risk management initiatives, and enhancing operational efficiency through proactive control and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

Governance & Compliance

  • Formulate and strengthen governance on all risk frameworks, policies, and controls.
  • Ensure Group Retail complies with all applicable laws, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
  • Review and provide advisories on AML policies and guidelines.

Risk Identification & Assessment

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to identify priority areas for review based on control criticality, emerging risks, and regulatory focus.
  • Provide effective challenge to stakeholders on existing controls.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of controls through dashboards, audit reports, and fair-dealing scorecards.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement

  • Ensure risk issues highlighted by Group Compliance and Audit are addressed within GR.
  • Work with internal risk departments to coordinate activities and improve overall effectiveness.
  • Articulate and present risk issues to senior internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and auditors.

Risk Management Initiatives & Analytics

  • Identify and work with Business Units/GR Data Analytics teams on risk management initiatives to increase operational efficiency and proactive risk identification.
  • Support Business Units in risk identification, escalation, and remediation.
  • Prepare risk management reports and provide guidance to BRCMs in overseas locations.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Conduct training sessions where necessary to raise awareness of AML and risk controls.
  • Share lessons learned, application, and implementation best practices across the Group.

Process Improvement & Project Support

  • Participate in project and change management initiatives and process engineering to enhance risk frameworks and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements:

Education & Certification

  • Degree in Banking, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Certification in regulatory compliance and/or anti-financial crimes is mandatory.

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in audit, regulatory compliance, or Line 1 Risk & Control in retail banking.
  • Excellent knowledge of Singapore AML regulations and regional regulatory frameworks (preferred).
  • Proven experience in risk/control design, assessment, and regulatory compliance in financial services.
  • Familiarity with data management and analytics; ability to write macros or basic programming is advantageous.
  • Resourceful, meticulous, analytical, with the ability to work independently.
  • Strategic thinking with a growth mindset to adapt to evolving regulatory requirements.
