Job Description

1. Robotics Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

  • Develop and own the multi-year robotics product roadmap across current and future categories.
  • Lead concept development, feasibility, prototyping, and end-to-end NPI cycles.
  • Prioritise product initiatives based on customer insight, commercial opportunity, and competitive landscape.



2. Full-Stack Robotics Development

  • Oversee all engineering domains: mechanical, electrical, embedded systems, autonomy, navigation, perception, and systems integration.
  • Ensure seamless integration across hardware, firmware, AI/ML, cloud systems, and user interfaces.
  • Architect scalable, modular platforms that support multiple robotic product variants.



3. Manufacturing & Industrialisation

  • Drive DFM, DFA, DFC, robustness engineering, and reliability best practices.
  • Lead EVT/DVT/PVT stage-gate processes and factory ramp-up cycles.
  • Manage relationships with contract manufacturers and tier1 suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery goals.



4. Product Quality, Testing & Compliance

  • Define and enforce world-class validation, testing, and reliability frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with global safety and robotics standards (CE, UL, ISO, regional certifications).
  • Build feedback loops using field data, telemetry, and customer inputs to improve product performance.



5. Product Experience Ownership

  • Oversee industrial design, UX/UI, HMI, and serviceability engineering.
  • Ensure products are intuitive, robust, and optimised for demanding real-world environments.
  • Balance performance, usability, aesthetics, and long-term maintainability.



6. Lean, Data-Driven Development

  • Implement lean product development to accelerate time-to-market.
  • Optimise BOM cost and supply chain resilience while maintaining superior quality.
  • Use fleet data, failure analytics, and customer insights to drive engineering decisions.



Leadership & Organisation Building

  • Scale and mentor multidisciplinary engineering and product teams (50+).
  • Establish a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with AI, operations, commercial, and after-sales teams to ensure product success.

The Successful Applicant

QualificationsExperience

  • At least 10+ years in robotics, autonomous systems, or complex electromechanical product development.
  • At least 3+ years in executive or senior leadership overseeing large engineering teams.
  • Proven record of delivering commercial-grade robots or autonomous hardware to market at scale.
  • Experience with in-house manufacturing, CM/JDM/ODM partnerships, and global supply chains.



Technical Strengths

  • Deep expertise in robotics engineering, including mechanical systems, electrical design, embedded systems, autonomy, navigation, SLAM, and sensor fusion.
  • Strong understanding of NPI, EVT/DVT/PVT, and volume manufacturing readiness.
  • Solid grounding in reliability engineering, testing frameworks, and global compliance standards.



Leadership & Business Skills

  • Strong product ownership mindset with an obsession for quality and customer outcomes.
  • Ability to manage complex trade-offs across cost, timelines, and performance.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership.



Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
  • MBA or advanced management training is advantageous.

  • On-time and on-budget delivery of NPI milestones and mass production launches.
  • Improved product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Sustained BOM cost reduction without compromising performance.
