Job Description

The GM Risk Application Support Lead will oversee the run functions of the Risk Application team supporting Balance Sheet, Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity, Fraud, and Compliance systems. This role combines application support, technical strategy, and operational leadership, ensuring stability, performance, and continuous improvement of Global Markets and Risk Management platforms in a 24/7/365 environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Application & Platform Support

  • Lead the run functions for GM and Risk management applications, ensuring uptime and performance in accordance with SLAs.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Risk and Global Markets systems, providing guidance to internal teams, application teams, and vendors.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex application, database, and middleware issues, including performance, capacity, and resiliency challenges.

Technical Leadership & Strategy

  • Participate in strategic planning and technical discussions to improve the Risk platform, recommending cost savings, technology adoption, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Guide system architecture, platform design, and process improvements to enhance operational excellence.
  • Drive automation initiatives across application support workflows to increase productivity and reduce manual intervention.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Ensure middleware, databases, and application servers meet patch compliance, security standards, and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management within the Risk application landscape.
  • Provide oversight on regulatory and operational compliance, including application security and SSL certificate management.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, application developers, and principal vendors.
  • Manage and escalate critical issues effectively, ensuring timely resolution and business continuity.
  • Engage with business and technology stakeholders to align technology roadmaps with organizational priorities.

Technology & System Expertise

  • Manage platforms and tools including OpenShift container platform, Linux, Control-M, ITRS monitoring, and EOD processes.
  • Oversee databases such as Oracle and MS SQL, and middleware / application servers, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Maintain familiarity with trading and risk management systems such as Murex, and risk modules covering interest rate, liquidity, capital, and compliance risk.

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in leading IT operations and application support teams in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong background in middleware application servers, SAS, and traditional database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL).
  • Experience in containerized environments (Kubernetes / OpenShift) and application security management.
  • Practical knowledge of ITIL processes and IT service management (ITSM) principles.
