Overview Of Division/Department

Asia-Pacific Credit Department (APCD) is responsible for sound quality of credit portfolio through credit review of non-Japanese corporate, non-Japanese financial institutions and sovereign customers as well as transactions with them, monitoring and active management of risk appetite framework in the Asia Pacific region. The countries/areas to cover are Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, India, Australia and other countries in the South East Asia, South Asia regions and Oceania regions. It also covers various financial products including project finance, real estate loan, and securitization in the whole APAC (ex. Japan) regions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis of each specific companies/groups or industries to meet the need in assisting the credit assessment process.
  • Conduct tasks/supports about internal credit rating assessment for required companies. As a co-assigned CRD analyst, review and assign the rating for SG customers.
  • To prepare the brief reports of various industries;
  • To support in preparing internal research reports on a specific large corporate customer or an industry such customer is engaged in, in order to facilitate our bank to make better informed credit decisions;
  • To collaborate with analysts in collecting industry/company information (by using Bloomberg, Wind, Rating and Equity Research Report), conducting basic financial analysis, and/or preparing graphical description;
  • To provide support on general administrative affairs of the department.

In-Depth Research, Rating Work

  • Upon conducting research works, (1) make an overall research plan and manage the progress,

(2) direct communication with clients and/or external third parties to verify hypothesis and problems, (3) complete and report the research to managements and PICS based on each schedule requirement.

  • Proactive/Precautious Action
  • Through credit monitoring work, being sensitive to macro economy and risk events affecting to industries and corporates, take necessary reports/actions to related parties.

Enhancement of Knowledge, Sharing Information

  • Collect information and knowledge relation to research works and share with relevant departments as well as colleagues within APCD.
  • Lead and drive project and team managerial matters (e.g. research project developments & coordination, supervision / guidance of analysts & assistants & trainees where necessary, staff education & management, negotiation with other departments, etc.). Concurrently, support MD2 in overall day-to-day operation matters of CRL.

Essential Functions


  • To cover all projects which are required for Mizuho business;
  • To understand business and strength/weakness of customer through meeting/site visit with blue chip customers;
  • To collect information and prepare reports independently.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Economics/Accounting/Law; with qualification of CFA or CPA or HKAB is preferred;
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years relevant experience in corporate research assistant/support or credit analysis in financial institution / rating company / consultant company;
  • Well versed in using Bloomberg and Wind;
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Self-motivated, reliable, detail-minded and able to work independently in high accuracy
