Job Description

  • For the VP/AVP legal role, a min of 9 years of PQE (Post Qualified Experience) experience is required. For the legal counsel role, a min of 3 to 5 years of PQE experience gained with an established law firm is required
  • Experience in civil and commercial litigation, contract drafting is required
  • Experience in construction law, EPC, international trade, or intellectual property work an advantage (but not a must)

Our client is a renowned and global player in the engineering/industrial sector. Its global HQ is in Singapore. Re the location, it is based in the western part of Singapore at Gul Road (Note- the co provides island wide bus pick up services to and from the work location).

It is looking to hire a VP/AVP legal and a legal counsel to join the legal team. The legal team's key objective is to provide strategic legal leadership and oversight across operations, contracts, compliance, and dispute management to ensure the company's business interests are protected and aligned with global standards and regulatory requirements.

Legal Operations & Support

. Support the General Counsel in establishing and implementing a global legal framework and policies.

. Lead legal oversight for day-to-day business operations, including commercial contracts and procurement agreements.

. Manage legal matters related to business operations, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, restructuring, and new business initiatives.

. Review and refine internal legal processes to ensure compliance with changing laws and regulations in offshore, marine, and renewables sectors.

Contract & Commercial Management

. Draft, review, and negotiate procurement and commercial contracts with clients, vendors, and partners.

. Develop and maintain contract templates, term sheets, and legal frameworks aligned with global standards.

. Ensure proper documentation and safekeeping of all legal agreements.

. Manage external counsels assisting with agreement reviews or projects.

Litigation & Dispute Management

. Work closely with the General Counsel to manage litigation cases and dispute resolution, including civil claims, commercial disputes, and regulatory investigations.

. Supervise legal and case preparation, review litigation strategies, and ensure alignment with business interests.

. Provide regular updates and reports on ongoing litigation and disputes to senior management.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

. Ensure compliance with corporate governance, regulatory, and licensing requirements across all jurisdictions.

. Provide legal advice on offshore, marine, and renewables industries, including environmental and energy regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

. Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Law or equivalent from recognized university

. For the VP/AVP legal role, a min of 9 years of PQE (Post Qualified Experience) experience preferably with an established law firm or corporate in-house legal environment is required. For the legal counsel role, a min of 3 to 5 years of PQE experience gained with an established law firm is required

. Experience in civil and commercial litigation, contract drafting

. Experience in construction law, EPC, international trade, or intellectual property work an advantage

. Good knowledge of laws applicable to company's operations and businesses

. Strong communicator and possess a commercially savvy approach to legal matters

. Sound knowledge in handling domestic and cross-border / regional dispute resolution litigation

. Commercial legal experience in a law firm or as-house legal counsel preferred

.Open to being based in Gul Road (note- Island wide transport provided)

.Open to work the following official work hours: Mon-Thu: 8.00am - 5.15pm, Fri: 8.00am - 4.30pm
