VMWare Engineer

Responsibilities:

1. Infrastructure Room Setup

. Plan infrastructure room layout (rack positioning, airflow, access)

. Install and configure:

- Server racks and mounting

- Cable management systems

- Power distribution units (PDUs)

. Coordinate with facilities/vendors for:

- Power availability

- Network readiness

2. Network Infrastructure Setup

. Configure network equipment:

- Switches, routers (if applicable), firewalls (basic setup)

. Implement LAN/VLAN design and IP addressing scheme

. Set up connectivity to servers and storage

. Apply security baseline configuration

3. Virtual Machine (VM) Infrastructure Setup

. Install and configure virtualization platform (e.g. VMware, Hyper V)

. Set up hypervisors, datastores, and resource pools

. Create VM templates and configure VM networking

. Provision initial VMs as required

4. Testing and Validation: Develop and execute test cases for:

- Network connectivity

- VM deployment and performance

- Integration validation

. Record and resolve issues

. Provide full test reporting

Requirements:

Mandatory Requirements:

. Experience in infrastructure / server room setup

. Strong networking knowledge (L2/L3, VLANs, firewall basics)

. Hands-on virtualization experience

. Documentation and testing capability

. Ability to coordinate with stakeholders and vendors
