The Role
We are looking for a Video Editor who can independently take a raw podcast episode from first cut to publish-ready final, with minimal supervision.
This role requires full ownership of the editing process: structure, pacing, sound, and color, applied with sound editorial judgment rather than step-by-step direction.
Beyond flagship episodes, the role also covers short-form content, street interviews, and client video work across OpenHaus and WriteHaus Asia.
What You Can Expect
You will receive raw footage and editorial notes, and you will be expected to shape that material into a complete, polished episode on your own.
Review takes place at the finished-cut stage rather than throughout the process, so independent judgment matters as much as technical skill. The role involves a mix of long-form episode editing and faster-turnaround short-form content, with occasional on-set support as second camera for events and recordings.
Feedback is direct and specific, and you will be expected to apply it consistently going forward.
What You'll Do
- Independently edit full podcast episodes from raw footage to final, publish-ready cut.
- Produce reels, shorts, and social-first edits across OpenHaus and WriteHaus Asia.
- Apply sound design, colour grading, and pacing decisions without requiring detailed direction.
- Build and apply basic motion graphics, lower thirds, titles, and transitions consistent with brand style.
- Support on-set filming as second camera during events and recordings when required.
- Maintain consistent file organisation, version control, and naming conventions across all projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum a Diploma from a recognised institution. Degree holders from recognised institutions are welcome to apply.
- At least 1 year of hands-on editing experience, with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to independently manage a full project.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro is required.
- Working knowledge of motion graphics (After Effects or similar) is a strong advantage.
- Solid understanding of pacing, sound design, and colour grading, with the judgment to identify and resolve weak points in a cut.
- Comfortable working on Apple laptops, as all editing is conducted on macOS.
- A demo reel or portfolio is required to apply, ideally including at least one long-form edit completed independently from start to finish.
