Job Description

  • Serve as the primary transactional and contract lawyer for the Singapore office, independently draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including those related to digital assets, payment services, and traditional securities such as funds, shares, bonds and derivatives, ensuring compliance with Singapore law, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Provide legal advice on structuring, negotiating, and documenting complex transactions involving both innovative fintech products and traditional capital markets instruments.
  • Support the Head of Legal and Compliance in obtaining and maintaining financial services licenses, including but not limited to Capital Markets Services (CMS), Major Payment Institution (MPI) and any new or evolving licenses issued by MAS or other regulators. This includes preparing application documentation, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with fit and proper criteria, capital requirements, and regulations, submitting applications, and managing regulatory communications.
  • Act as the data protection officer and secretary of various governing bodies and committees of the Singapore office, ensuring proper records and minutes are prepared, kept and filed in full compliance with data protection laws and other applicable legal and regulatory requirements
  • Advise across a broad spectrum of legal and regulatory matters including contract law, corporate governance, employment law, risk management, data protection and financial services regulation. Conduct thorough legal research and prepare detailed memoranda or internal policy on emerging regulatory developments and regulatory frameworks issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and other relevant regulators.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across business, compliance, risk, marketing and operations to identify legal risks and propose pragmatic, business-friendly solutions to enable growth while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Manage corporate housekeeping, maintaining accurate legal records and documentation to satisfy regulatory, audit, and governance requirements.
  • Continuously monitor developments in financial services laws, including fintech, blockchain, capital markets, payments, and derivatives regulations, proactively advising the business on risks, compliance, and market opportunities.

What You Offer

  • A law degree from a reputable institution and admission to the Bar. At least 5 years of proven experience in the MAS-regulated financial services industry or a similar environment.
  • Strong grounding in banking, fund, corporate, data protection and contract law, with a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks; familiarity with digital assets and fintech is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex legal matters while staying aligned with organizational goals and leadership direction.
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and research capabilities, coupled with a practical, solution-driven approach to challenges.
  • High integrity, sound business judgment, and the resilience to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A proactive team player with a positive, can-do spirit who can take initiative on finding solutions and driving progress.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with the Payment Services Act, Securities and Futures Act, PDPA, and TRM guidelines in Singapore.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and exposure to Asian regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in fintech or start-up environments.
