Job Summary

The role within FX and Rates trading is three-fold:

  1. To provide liquidity to Mizuho's customer base in our chosen product space - whilst effectively managing the risk on the Bank's balance sheet. Liquidity is generated by working closely with the Sales force and Customers - presenting them with market colour, pricing information and trade ideas in a timely, consistent and interesting format. We work towards growing that pool of liquidity by pitching and onboarding new customers across all jurisdictions.
  2. To continuously develop and enhance tools for the pricing, publishing and relative value analysis of our product.
  3. Help the team achieve yearly budget targets.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include and not be limited to the following:

  • Interpret market trend and evaluates the demand and supply ratios within various markets in relation to the MHSS's own positions and takes actions in relation to the risk profile of these positions.
  • Serve as the local expert on all matters relating to the Asia Pacific market in this area, including market and regulatory developments, social political status to ensure the smooth running of the trading desk.
  • Price & book rates flows.
  • Hedge flows and take part of daily administrative tasks.
  • Apply desk strategies to manage risks and optimize hedges.
  • Estimate and validate daily results.
  • Participate in developing of tools, processes and methodologies.
  • Backup other traders.
  • Monitor, take and trade FX positions using FX derivatives and cash.
  • Liaise with others traders (locally and regionally) to ensure smooth transitions of daily book passing.
  • Provide market commentary and trade ideas for sales.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in any discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the financial industry
  • Highly proficient in Japanese Language is required due to frequent detailed communication with Headquarters and Japanese counterparts on business operations
  • A background in financial modeling and/or programming a plus but not required
  • Desire to push execution capabilities to the leading edge of trading and technology
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to maintain focus in times of stress and pressure.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, reliable and someone who takes pride and ownership in their work
