Vice President / Assistant General Manager, Business Management, Treasury & Markets

Job Description

Incumbent is responsible for providing support for Head of T&M on the new initiatives to expand the business scope for Singapore branch. Work closely with parent company in mainland China and head office in Hong Kong to collaborate on the strategic planning and industry research related to the strategic positioning of the branch. Help to improve the business management process efficiency by the utilization of CRM solution or other e-solutions. Key responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Treasury & Market Reporting

• Assist Head of T&M on the new business initiatives for Singapore branch
• Establish the business management policy and standard process flow for new business initiatives
• Assist Head of T&M on the strategic planning to diversify the revenue resources
• Work closely with parent company in mainland China and head office in Hong Kong to execute the strategic plan at branch level
• Perform the necessary industry research report and new product analysis before the new product launch
• Prepare T&M budgeting, forecasting, analysis of P/L attribution to new products and / or sales and trading strategies
• Reconciliation of FMD P/L report and assist to investigate if there are any discrepancies
• Prepare the management report to evaluate profit generation by business sectors and by traders

Monitoring and Control of Treasury & Market activities

• Monitor trading limits and work closely with market risks and operations to follow up on exceptional cases
• Review the monthly brokerage charges and have them approved and signed by designated personnel
• Validate dealer's reason on all trade amendments and cancellations and ensure that they are approved and control procedures are adhered to
• Validate dealer's reason on all hold over, late deals and ensure off-premise trading control procedures are adhered to and escalate to Treasurer for exceptional cases
• Investigate and verify Exceed Limits Report and Off Market Rate Report
• Ensure that all products traded and sold by sales traders have been approved and in line with local regulatory and internal requirements
• Analyse the utilization of the credit limit, country risk limit and other relative limits to constrain T&M activities with these counterparties
• Analyse the cross-currency risk of SGB balance sheet, and the funding characteristics of counterparties, propose to expand the limit with different types of counterparties to better manage the cross-currency risk at branch level.
• To assist in ad-hoc projects as and when required by the Head of Treasury and Markets.

Procedure and Documentation

• Evaluate current T&M procedure manuals, and try to streamline the process to enhance the internal controls of T&M trading according to Bank's internal guidelines
• Analyse T&M P/L contributions and propose the ways to improve T&M P/L based on the quantitative analysis
• Maintain an effective and efficient T&M procedure and manuals, including enhancement of internal controls, ensuring procedures are in compliance with local regulatory requirements and the Bank's internal guidelines
• Disseminate updated internal work procedures, guidelines and workflow to the relevant parties

Requirements

• Master / Degree in Computer Science, Finance / Economics, Business Management or Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of experience of business analysis or project management
• Good understanding of process management approach and operational optimization
• Sound knowledge of data analysis and familiar with IT system and the dealing practices and market conduct for Treasury activities
• Fluent in both English and Mandarin
