Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Vetting Specialist for one of our shipping clients to join their Singapore office. Reporting to the Marine Manager, the Vetting Specialist will safeguard operational integrity by overseeing rigorous onboard audits, navigating complex regulatory frameworks (IMO/ISM/MLC), and providing technical expertise in tank operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong shore-based experience in safety management, HSEQ and compliance with chemical tankers and effective communication skills with the ability to lead and influence stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee readiness for OCIMF SIRE and CDI inspection programs

  • Maintain adherence to international maritime regulations including IMO conventions (MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, MLC)

  • Carry out internal vessel assessments and onboard compliance audits ahead of external inspections

  • Review incidents, identify underlying causes, and recommend corrective/preventive actions

  • Advise vessels on best practices related to cargo operations, tank preparation, and safety procedures

  • Act as the main point of contact with charterers, oil companies, and terminal representatives

Requirements

  • Prior sailing experience as Master on chemical tankers.

  • Proven shore-based experience with HSEQ, compliance audits and safety management.

  • Practical experience preparing vessels for SIRE 2.0, CDI inspections and working knowledge of TMSA.

  • Strong understanding of chemical tanker operations, cargo compatibility, and tank cleaning procedures.

  • Exposure to incident reporting systems and corrective action tracking.

  • Proficiency in reviewing vessel documentation (SMS manuals, risk assessments, checklists)

  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail in identifying trends and recurring issues.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and reporting tools.

  • Willingness to travel for vessel visits or audits when required.
