Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and energetic Vessel Operator (Tanker) responsible for fulfilling all Charter Party requirements for spot voyages and time charter fixtures, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining company reputation, and controlling voyage-related expenses within acceptable levels.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor vessel movements and update operational systems to ensure accurate and timely voyage tracking.
  • Review vessel-related communications and respond promptly to resolve operational issues.
  • Manage voyage documentation and correspondence throughout the charter lifecycle to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, Commercial teams, Brokers, Agents, Vendors, and Masters to facilitate smooth voyage execution.
  • Appoint agents, arrange timely remittance, and oversee service providers to support voyage operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and contractual obligations to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain vessel certificates, Q88 or Baltic 99 forms, and related records by referencing relevant IT systems promptly.
  • Initiate freight, demurrage, and claims billing submissions to support financial accuracy.

Spot Voyages:

  • Support pre-fixture planning and clearance processes to prepare for voyage execution.
  • Facilitate voyage and discharge orders, stowage plans, bunkering plans, and agent appointments to optimize operations.
  • Manage post-fixture activities including cargo documentation and demurrage claims to ensure contractual compliance.

Time Charter Voyages:

  • Coordinate pre-time-charter queries and documentation to prepare for charter commencement.
  • Oversee time charter execution, owner's agent appointments, and claims billing to ensure operational and financial accuracy.
  • Ensure delivery and redelivery notices and contractual obligations are fulfilled to maintain charter compliance.

Other Duties:

  • Maintain communication with Security and Insurance & Claims departments for vessels entering high-risk areas and arrange necessary security measures to safeguard assets.
  • Obtain various Letters of Indemnity (LOIs) from Charterers as applicable to manage legal risks.
  • Update Time-Bar records and liaise with internal departments post-fixture to support claims management.

Required competencies and certifications

  • Diploma or degree in maritime/shipping or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in tanker commercial operations or 4 years of sailing experience on merchant vessels.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with vessels and stakeholders to facilitate operational coordination.
  • Proficient in analyzing data and preparing presentations to support decision-making.
  • Strong attention to detail in managing documentation and issuing instructions to ensure accuracy.
  • Ability to perform effectively under time-sensitive operational environments to meet deadlines.
