Fleet Finance & Cost Management
Responsible for preparing and analysing monthly financial performance at vessel level, including profit and loss reporting. Monitor operating expenses such as fuel, port disbursements, agency charges, and maintenance costs to ensure accuracy and cost control. Ensure expenses are properly allocated and accrued to the respective vessels. Work closely with operations and technical teams to track cost movements and provide visibility on spending. Support management with insights into vessel performance, highlighting trends and key variances.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Develop and maintain annual operating budgets for vessels, ensuring alignment with business plans. Perform detailed variance analysis between actual results and budgeted figures. Assist in updating forecasts based on operational developments and changing business conditions. Support preparation of cashflow projections linked to vessel activities and operational requirements.
Receivables, Payables & Cashflow
Oversee invoicing, collections, and payment processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions. Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding balances to maintain healthy cashflow. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external parties to resolve billing discrepancies. Manage daily cashflow cycles relating to receivables and payables. Prepare aging reports and track key metrics to ensure efficiency in collections and payments. Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations including GST and related filings.
Banking & Working Capital
Maintain relationships with banking partners and manage banking facilities. Support trade finance activities such as invoice financing, trust receipts, and letters of credit, including documentation handling. Assist in managing working capital requirements and ensure sufficient liquidity to support ongoing operations.
Accounting & Financial Close
Handle full set of accounts including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets. Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation of journals and accruals. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules. Assist in audit processes and statutory filings, including tax and GST submissions. Liaise with external auditors to address queries and ensure compliance.
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
Ensure adherence to internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain and strengthen internal control frameworks across finance processes. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and implement enhancements, including automation initiatives. Support system upgrades, ERP enhancements, and finance-related projects.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
Prior exposure to maritime or vessel-related finance functions is advantageous.
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost monitoring is preferred.
Strong understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and tax compliance.
Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with trade finance instruments such as invoice financing, trust receipts, or letters of credit will be an advantage.
Detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to work independently.
Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
