Systems Engineer - Unix/Linux
Role Summary
- Unix/Linux Systems Engineer responsible for administration and support of a 24×7 enterprise IT environment.
- Focus on Unix/Linux infrastructure, troubleshooting, patching, incident management, and service continuity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Unix/Linux Administration
- Manage day-to-day administration of:Unix/LinuxSolarisRed HatAIXSUSE
- Provide L1/L2 operational support for enterprise infrastructure.
- Deploy packages, patches, and bug fixes across Test, Pre-Prod and Production.
2. Troubleshooting & Incident Management
- Troubleshoot server and application issues.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Respond to incidents, security alerts and escalations.
- Provide temporary/permanent resolutions and timely status updates.
- Troubleshoot third-party infrastructure applications and coordinate with vendors.
3. Clustering - Important
- Strong hands-on experience with:Red Hat ClusteringOracle Solaris Clustering
4. Change & Service Management
- Manage changes through formal Change Request / Change Management processes.
- Ensure SLAs and service levels are met.
- Provide operational status reports.
- Implement corrective action plans where required.
5. Business Continuity
- Support backup & restore procedures.
- Implement and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) and service continuity measures.
6. Security & Compliance
- Participate in IT audits.
- Address audit findings.
- Handle security alerts and investigations.
7. Documentation & Operations
- Maintain accurate technical/operational documentation.
- Support other Unix/Linux administration activities.
- Work outside normal hours when required for patching and maintenance.
- Occasional travel to other Singapore offices.
Must-Have Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent.
- 3+ years relevant enterprise-level Unix/Linux administration experience.
- Strong experience with Red Hat + Solaris.
- Strong knowledge of Red Hat Clustering & Oracle Solaris Clustering.
- Scripting experience with Perl, Ruby and/or AWK.
- Knowledge/experience with SolarWinds.
- Experience in a 24×7 enterprise production environment.
