Unix Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

. Manage and maintain RHEL systems across development, testing, and production environments

. Design, implement, and support OpenShift container platforms

. Administer and troubleshoot JBoss application servers

. Utilise Red Hat Satellite for system provisioning, patching, and configuration management

. Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards

. Perform system upgrades, patches, and maintenance tasks

. Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations and processes

. Collaborate with development teams to support application deployment and operations

. Participate in on-call rotations for critical system support

Qualifications:

. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

. 5+ years of experience in Unix/Linux administration, with a focus on RHEL

. Strong knowledge of OpenShift container platform administration

. Experience with JBoss application server management

. Proficiency in using Red Hat Satellite for system management

Required Skills:

. Advanced knowledge of RHEL system administration and troubleshooting

. Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

. Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) and at least one programming language (e.g., Python)

. Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols

. Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)

. Knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, ELK stack)

Preferred Skills:

. Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, or higher)

. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

. Familiarity with database administration (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)

. Experience with high-availability and disaster recovery solutions
