Job Title: Underwriting Assistant

Location: Singapore

The Opportunity:

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will be required to provide processing and underwriting support to the line of business (LoB). You will get the opportunity to work closely with Underwriters and wider Service team, including offshore teams, to ensure service activities are achieved within service delivery timeframes specified.

You will also act as an account representative by responding to service matters and coordinating with the appropriate business partner for resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to Underwriters in the areas of underwriting operations, procedures and policies.
  • Build strong relationships with and provide prompt customer service to all internal and external customers
  • Complete associated business processes such as MIA mapping, eFiling, ZHorizon updates, Sanctions Checks and others
  • Liaise with, provide support to and conduct regular quality checks on tasks assigned to and completed by the offshore team including pre-renewal reports, sanctions check and other associated activities
  • Responsible for accurate issuance of policy documents including policy schedules,
  • policy wording, endorsements, invoices and certificates of insurance to the broker or customer in collaboration with Policy Administration Team
  • Liaise with and follow up with placement brokers closely for premium closings / advices / premium calculations to ensure premium bookings are completed in timely manner
  • Establish process to effectively monitor work on hand and set priorities so as to complete tasks within turnaround time.
  • Complete documents following placement of Facultative Reinsurance, where applicable, and liaise with Finance to ensure that any reinsurance is correct and payments will be made within specified warranties
  • Handle complex work items including investigation of issues and to apply problem solving skills which entails effective collaboration with other departments and colleagues where required to achieve win-win resolutions to identified issues.
  • Ready to provide cross-training to fellow Underwriting Assistants for other LoBs to reduce key man dependency as well as to receive cross-training by fellow
  • Underwriting Assistants to establish a strong back-up support for the team.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Diploma holder
  • Prior experience working in an insurance/reinsurance company, including experience inAccidenta& health is preferred.
  • Knowledge of line of business, and
  • Experience in underwriting support functions, data entry and policy administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships internallyand externally
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and to see work through to completion withminimal supervision
  • Pro-active and can-do attitude
  • Willingness to learn
  • Team player
