Job Description

The underwriter reports to the Head of Product, Pricing, Motor and is responsible for supporting the company's retail insurance strategy which include motor, individual accident & health, householder & houseowner and EW, to drive sustainable growth and profitability for the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting and Risk Management: Adherence to motor underwriting guidelines and risk assessment protocols to deliver sound underwriting practices. Monitor and manage the motor portfolio to maintain an appropriate risk profile and profitability.
  • Operation excellence: Optimize all motor related processes include new business and renewal, to ensure efficiency, quality customer and distributor service, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross functional teams, including pricing, sales, claims, policy administration and finance, to ensure adequacy in premium, deliver quality customer and distributors proposition, exchange relevant insights on motor portfolio and ensure profitable growth of the motor portfolio.
  • Market Analysis: Stay updated with market trends, customer preferences, and regulatory changes to anticipate shifts in the industry landscape and make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Product Development: Involve in new and revamp of retail products from product design, pricing, crafting policy wordings.


Requirements:

  • Experience in motor and commercial motor underwriting is a plus. In-depth knowledge of the Singapore insurance market and regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details to maintain a balance between risk management and business profitability.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, insurance, actuarial science, finance, or a related field is typically required.
