Job Description

We are seeking an Underwriter specializing in GLOBAL FINANCIAL RISKS for a short-term contract (3 to 6 months) in Singapore. This role supports the development and execution of business plans, strengthens client and broker relationships, and contributes to portfolio analysis within the APAC Underwriting team. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and able to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute and participate in team meetings to share insights, develop strategy, and drive best practices.
  • Provide new ideas to support business plan development, with a focus on enhancing product literature and information for key business sectors.
  • Demonstrate awareness of market dynamics and cycles to drive and enhance business performance.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and expertise through appropriate learning and development initiatives.
  • Attend client onboarding sessions and regular catch-up meetings to deliver and clearly articulating the key benefits of being a Liberty client.
  • Participate in internal and external discussions that support the delivery of underwriting objectives.
  • Contribute and influence in the review and analysis of the underwriting portfolio to identify progress towards achieving business objectives.
  • Support underwriting activities in line with business plans and risk tolerances. Ensure accurate record-keeping in all relevant systems.
  • Understand and apply underwriting standards, policies, and compliance requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolio
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
  • Understanding of relevant software including Excel
  • Numeracy and literacy skills
  • Some established customer/broker relationships
  • Ability to build relationships and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Analytical and negotiation skills
  • Well-rounded organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to analyze and use data for decision making
  • Use of risk profiling and pricing tools and loss models
