Job Summary
SCOR Agri is one of the seven specialty teams (within SCOR P&C) with a worldwide mandate to offer (re)insurance solutions. Agri as a book has evolved over the decades and the Underwriting team is among the most recognized and respected among the business fraternity.
This role, based in Singapore, is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our on-the-ground presence in APAC, with a particular focus on China-undoubtedly the region with the highest growth potential over the next two decades.
The position aims to attract a candidate with hands on experience in Agri underwriting with a strong client facing profile.
Key duties and responsibilities
Portfolio Planning / Steering
Report to and support the Head of Agri for strategy.
Proactively develop and region / market specific business plan in consultation with Head of Agri.
Portfolio Management
Submission management (internal and external communication).
Routine and non-routine tasks related to assigned market / portfolio.
Client Management
Review cedants strategy, business plan and needs and propose solutions.
Market Intelligence
Monitor market developments and explore trends / cycles and new potentials.
Regularly engage with the pricing, reserving and claims teams, keeping them appraised of the latest developments of the portfolio and the market.
Grow SCOR's expertise and offering
Contribute to internal projects to enhance SCOR's offering (services, products).
Represent SCOR in working groups, conferences, associations etc.
Able to invest time in mentoring junior team members.
Comply with internal risk appetite and risk management practices
Comply with all Enterprise Risk Management rules, including Internal Control System for treaty underwriting and escalation to Head of Agri when appropriate
Required experience & competencies
At least 5 years experience in agriculture (re)insurance
Pays attention to detail and comfortable with data analysis.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Able to grow / manage assigned portfolio with minimal intervention.
Comfortable working in multi-cultural set ups.
Required Education
University education in the field of Agriculture, Animal Sciences, Actuarial or Weather Studies.
Insurance / Reinsurance qualifications are desirable.
Proficiency in Mandarin to facilitate communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and stakeholders
