TUNNEL SUPERVISOR

Job Description

Site & Construction Supervision

• Supervise tunnelling activities (NATM, TBM, drill & blast, cut-and-cover, etc.)

• Ensure work follows approved drawings, method statements, and specifications

• Coordinate daily work plans and allocate manpower and equipment

• Monitor excavation, mucking, lining, shotcreting, waterproofing, and backfilling works

• Maintain proper sequencing of tunnel operations

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Enforce strict compliance with HSE regulations and site safety plans

• Conduct toolbox talks and daily safety briefings

• Identify hazards (gas, water ingress, ground instability) and implement controls

• Ensure use of PPE and safe work practices at all times

• Respond immediately to incidents or unsafe conditions

Quality Control

• Inspect works to ensure compliance with quality standards

• Monitor concrete, shotcrete, rock support, and lining quality

• Ensure correct installation of rock bolts, steel ribs, mesh, and waterproofing systems

• Report non-conformances and ensure corrective actions

Coordination & Communication

• Liaise with site engineers, surveyors, safety officers, and subcontractors

• Coordinate with TBM operators or blasting teams where applicable

• Communicate progress, issues, and risks to project management

• Assist engineers with site measurements, reports, and records

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain daily progress reports and shift logs

• Record manpower, equipment usage, and material consumption

• Report delays, breakdowns, or ground condition changes

• Support inspections by consultants and clients

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in tunnelling construction

• Proven experience supervising tunnel works (NATM, TBM, or drill & blast)

• Familiarity with underground safety standards and procedures

• Problem-solving abilities

• Able to perform day or night shifts in underground

• Able working 6 days per week, 12 shifts
