[What the role is]
The Digital Transformation Office (DTO) is looking for a Full-Stack Developer Trainee (6 months) to support the development, deployment and integration of digital solutions that improve how PA officers work and serve residents.
In this hands-on role, you will work with DTO officers to build prototypes, enhance existing applications, connect systems together, and support pilots across PA's digital transformation initiatives.
You will gain exposure to business process redesign, government digital products, AI-enabled tools, and the deployment of real-world solutions used by operational teams.
[What you will be working on]
- Full-Stack Development & Prototyping
- Build and enhance web applications and digital prototypes.
- Develop front-end and back-end components under the guidance of DTO officers.
- Translate operational requirements into working digital solutions.
- Support iterative improvements based on user feedback.
- System Integration & Automation
- Support integration between systems and digital platforms such as FormSG, GovEntry, AttendPA, Microsoft 365 and other government products.
- Assist in developing workflows that reduce manual effort and improve data flow across systems.
- Explore APIs, automation tools and low-code platforms to connect business processes.
- Deployment & Technical Operations
- Support deployment of applications to cloud or hosted environments.
- Assist in configuration, testing and troubleshooting of deployed systems.
- Work with ICT and technology partners to support pilot implementations.
- Document deployment approaches and technical setup processes.
- Testing & Product Improvement
- Conduct functional testing and UAT activities.
- Identify bugs and defects and support issue resolution.
- Track user feedback and recommend improvements.
- Maintain technical and user documentation.
- Innovation & Emerging Technology
- Experiment with AI, automation and modern development tools.
- Develop proof-of-concepts to test new ideas.
- Explore opportunities to improve operational workflows through technology.
[What we are looking for]
Educational Background
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related disciplines.
Technical Skills
Familiarity with some of the following:
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- ReactJS or VueJS
- Node.js
- Python
- HTML/CSS
- REST APIs
- SQL or basic database concepts
Platform & Tooling
Exposure to one or more of the following will be advantageous:
- Git / GitHub
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or equivalent)
- Microsoft Power Platform
- Automation tools
- CI/CD concepts
Problem Solving
- Curious and hands-on learner who enjoys building and experimenting.
- Comfortable troubleshooting technical issues and learning new technologies.
Collaboration
