The Opportunity

We are looking for a Trainee who will be assigned to support the Client Service for Institutional and Wholesale Distribution covering Singapore and Southeast Asia. This role reports directly to the Institutional Client Service Manager based in Singapore.

The primary role is to support the activities relating to institutional and wholesale client servicing and distribution support for Southeast Asia. The individual is expected to liaise with clients in servicing institutional mandates and assist distribution with roadshows, events, and marketing and sales activities conducted by the Singapore distribution team.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Client Services

  • Assist with client service efforts in maintaining and retaining assets for the institutional book of business. This includes responding to client queries, providing pro-active support to client needs. Analysis of reports, understanding portfolio behaviours and risk management would be essential.
  • Coordination of portfolio reviews with clients and portfolio management teams, compliance review of material and ensuring clients receive regular client reports on a timely basis, as well as ad hoc requests from clients.
  • Maintain and record client procedure documents and agreed deliverables.
  • Proactively consider client requirements and experience and provide feedback to the relevant teams.
  • Facilitate account-opening and onboarding of new clients and acting as a conduit with the affiliates to ensure the process is smoothly managed. This can include managing contract discussions with the guidance of the Distribution team.
  • Support and assist prospective clients with KYC/AML requirements for their investments.
  • Assist with formal and informal client communications (reports, emails etc.) to keep clients abreast with latest news and analysis from affiliate managers. This includes preparing and customising portfolio review materials for regular client reporting.
  • Work with affiliates and Reporting & Operational teams to respond to client queries
  • Maintain key distribution lists and take responsibility for the integrity of the CRM system
  • Provide regular reporting for Sales meetings including mandate and fund performance, upcoming client on-site visits and review calls, and current outstanding client issues.

Sales Support

  • Support all roadshow activities which include collating relevant materials to be used for meetings
  • Screen government procurement sites for new tenders & Requests for Proposals (RFP)
  • Coordinate, together with distribution team, the completion of RFPs and proposals
  • Assisting the distribution team on the cultivation of new client relationships, ongoing prospecting, and retention strategy of clients at risk
  • Perform analysis of competitor funds/strategies including performance rankings and where relevant, work with Solutions and Product & Marketing Intelligence (PMI) teams
  • Coordinate release of white papers, research pieces, market updates, etc produced by affiliates to prospects & clients
  • Prepare call reports, as required, with inputs from distribution team
  • Assist to prepare Management & Strategy Reports and ad-hoc market analysis

Selection Criteria:

  • Fresh university graduate in Business/Economics/Accountancy or a related finance discipline with less than 2 years of working experience
  • Previous work experience within Financial Services industry in Asset Management, Private Banking, Wealth Management or Professional Services
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to pick up use of various tools for performing peer comparisons and fund analytics, e.g. Morningstar, consultant databases, Bloomberg
  • Work well in teams and possess a strong aptitude to client servicing work
  • Attention to details and the ability to deliver high quality work promptly are important
  • Ability to manage time and priorities are also required
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English, an additional Asian language will be an advantage
