The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically sharp Flow Trader/Analyst to join our execution team. This role is critical to the firm's success as it will be a part of the growing execution infrastructure of the firm. You will be primarily responsible for liaising with our prime brokers to more effectively execute our strategies including single stock short optimization. You will also be supporting the team for post-trade portfolio risk analytics. The ideal candidate someone that is familiar with long/short equity strategies who can optimize execution performance in real-time and contribute to the development of our trading systems.
Key Responsibilities
Short locates: Vigilantly monitor short locates, fill rates, recall and provide daily feedback to prime brokers to optimize short execution. Work with investment team to optimize short strategy to the different PBs.
Trade management and analysis: Manage and monitor daily order flow for systematic portfolios using proprietary and third-party execution algorithms. Liaise with prime brokers on execution, particularly on short locates. Post trade analysis and reporting on risk and attribution.
Monitor & Optimize: Continuously monitor market conditions, algorithm performance, and transaction costs (e.g., slippage, market impact). Make real-time adjustments to execution parameters to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
Risk Management: Vigilantly monitor intraday trading risk and position exposures, ensuring they remain within predefined limits. Quickly identify and escalate any anomalous behavior or system issues.
Market Analysis: Develop a deep understanding of market microstructure across various asset classes and venues. Analyze trade data to provide actionable insights on execution quality.
Collaborate: Work closely with CIO, head of risk, quantitative researchers , and developers to provide feedback on strategy behavior, improve execution algorithms, and enhance the firm's trading infrastructure.
Process Improvement: Proactively identify and implement improvements to the trade execution process, tools, and workflows.
Qualifications & Required Skills
Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a trading role, specifically with flow trading, execution, or electronic market-making. Experience at a quantitative hedge fund, prop trading firm, or major investment bank is highly preferred. English and Chinese proficiency, and programming skills are a plus.
Technical Proficiency:
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex trading concepts and issues to technical and non-technical colleagues as well as liaise with brokers.
Strong understanding of market microstructure, liquidity, and transaction cost analysis (TCA).
Proficiency with execution algorithms (e.g., implementation shortfall, VWAP, TWAP) and smart order routers.
Solid programming/scripting skills for automation and data analysis (Python strongly preferred; SQL, R, or C++ are a plus).
Experience with trading platforms (e.g., internal and external execution algorithms) and OMS/EMS systems.
Analytical Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving skills with a data-driven, quantitative approach to decision-making. Ability to perform under pressure and make quick, reasoned judgments.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex trading concepts and issues to technical and non-technical colleagues.
Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a other quantitative field.
