Job Description

Our client is a leading global proprietary quantitative trading firm. They are seeking a highly analytical and technically capable Business Analyst / Business Development Associate to join their Singapore office. This is a hybrid, high-impact role that sits at the intersection of quantitative trading operations, market structure analysis, and strategic relationship management.

You will be responsible for keeping their APAC trading operations running flawlessly, automating critical business workflows, and identifying new market access opportunities. This role demands exceptional mathematical precision, a deep curiosity about market microstructure, and the technical skills to automate away manual processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Automation & Optimization: Audit, streamline, and automate daily business and operational processes. Transition legacy spreadsheet-based workflows into robust, scalable, and automated data pipelines.
  • Market Structure Research: Research and analyze new trading venues, exchange connectivity models, colocation services, and regulatory changes across the APAC region to support strategic expansion.
  • Cost & Performance Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of trading costs (exchange fees, clearing costs, regulatory levies) to identify optimization opportunities and directly improve trading margins.
  • Exchange & Vendor Relations: Act as a key technical and business point of contact for external partners, including exchanges, clearing firms, prime brokers, and market data/technology vendors.
  • Project Management & Execution: Coordinate the onboarding of new trading desks, exchange connections, and clearing setups, ensuring zero-defect execution under tight timelines.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Data Proficiency: Mastery of Excel (VBA, PowerQuery) is a baseline. Professional proficiency in SQL is highly preferred, and basic scripting skills in Python or R for data manipulation and automation are a significant advantage.
  • Elite Attention to Detail: A near-zero error rate. In a proprietary trading environment, minor analytical errors or misconfigured parameters can have massive financial consequences.
  • Rigorous Problem Solving: Ability to take unstructured, ambiguous operational problems, break them down logically, and deliver structured, data-driven solutions.

Domain Knowledge & Experience

  • Industry Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience within a proprietary trading firm, market maker, quantitative hedge fund, exchange, prime brokerage, or a highly quantitative financial consulting role.
  • Market Microstructure: A strong foundational understanding of electronic trading, order books, market data feeds, exchange fee structures, and clearing mechanisms.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a top-tier institution in a highly quantitative or analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Quantitative Finance, or Economics).
