This role supports regional trading activities by managing trade finance instruments, overseeing payment flows, and ensuring effective working capital management. The position is highly documentation-driven and involves regular coordination with banks, internal teams, and external counterparties to meet transaction timelines and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute end-to-end trade finance transactions, including Letters of Credit (LCs), Standby LCs, Bank Guarantees, and Bills of Exchange.
- Act as the main point of contact with banks on document submission, negotiation, and settlement matters.
- Review trade documentation to ensure alignment with UCP 600, ISBP, Incoterms, and applicable international trade rules.
- Track payment movements, manage reconciliations, and proactively resolve discrepancies.
- Partner with sales, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure financial documents are consistent with shipment and contract requirements.
- Monitor utilisation of banking facilities and prepare cash flow and funding projections.
- Provide timely management reporting on trade finance activities and exposures.
- Assist with audit reviews and ensure proper documentation of trade and banking transactions.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments, sanctions requirements, and evolving banking practices.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in trade finance, preferably within commodities or steel trading environments.
- Solid understanding of UCP 600, ISBP, Incoterms, and SWIFT processes.
- Comfortable working with Excel and financial systems ERP exposure is a plus.
- Highly detail-focused, structured, and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Confident communicator who works well with both internal stakeholders and external banking partners.
