Job Summary

Manage trade finance transactions and banking relationships while supporting treasury, FX management, and accounting functions to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage trade finance transactions including Import Letters of Credit (ILC), Trust Receipts (TR), freight loans, and Export LC discounting to ensure smooth operations
  • Prepare, negotiate, apply for, and present Letters of Credit (LC), including issuance, amendments, and Master LC (MLC) to meet client and bank requirements
  • Prepare Proforma Invoices and export documents for submission to banks or clients to facilitate trade processes
  • Monitor import payments, export receipts, and remittance transactions, liaising with bank operations teams to resolve discrepancies and issues promptly
  • Track and update banks facilities, credit limits, and utilization to maintain accurate financial records
  • Assist the CFO in monitoring foreign exchange exposures and hedging strategies to manage currency risk effectively
  • Support execution of FX transactions and maintain detailed records of currency positions for accurate treasury management
  • Analyze and report on FX market movements and their impact on company operations to inform decision-making
  • Reconcile trade finance transactions with accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Support month-end closing activities related to trade finance and treasury to meet reporting deadlines
  • Prepare financial reports and schedules for management review to provide clear insights into financial status
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements to uphold governance standards
  • Act as backup for the Accountant during her absence, maintaining continuity of accounting operations and timely reporting
  • Serve as a key liaison with bankers to discuss banking facilities, credit lines, and utilization, fostering strong relationships
  • Negotiate terms and resolve issues with financial institutions to optimize banking arrangements
  • Provide timely updates to management on facility status and banking arrangements to support strategic planning

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Experience in FX management and treasury operations preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in trade finance operations, with exposure to LC issuance and negotiation
  • Strong knowledge of banking facilities, import/export documentation, and remittance processes
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and ability to reconcile financial transactions
  • Proven ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with bankers and financial institutions
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with banks, clients, and internal stakeholders
