Job Summary
The Tiler is responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing wall and floor tiles in residential and commercial renovation projects. The role ensures high-quality workmanship, proper alignment, waterproofing integrity, and timely completion according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Preparation
- Inspect site conditions before tiling (surface level, cleanliness, moisture).
- Carry out surface preparation including hacking, screeding, and leveling.
- Ensure proper substrate condition before tile installation.
2. Tile Installation
- Lay tiles (ceramic, porcelain, marble, granite, homogeneous, etc.) for:FloorsWalls (kitchen, bathroom, feature walls)
- Cut tiles accurately using appropriate tools.
- Ensure proper alignment, spacing, and leveling.
- Maintain consistent grout lines and pattern alignment.
3. Waterproofing Works
- Apply waterproofing systems in wet areas (toilets, kitchens, balconies).
- Follow correct waterproofing procedures and curing time.
- Conduct and assist in water ponding test.
4. Grouting & Finishing
- Apply grout and sealant neatly.
- Clean excess grout and ensure neat finishing.
- Polish tiles where required.
5. Quality Control
- Ensure:Tiles are level and even (no lippage)Proper slope for water drainage (especially in toilets)No hollow tiles (sound check)
- Rectify defects before handover.
6. Material Handling
- Calculate tile quantity and minimize wastage.
- Handle tiles carefully to prevent damage.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area.
7. Coordination
- Work closely with:Project Coordinator (PC)Site SupervisorOther trades (plumbing, carpentry, electrical)
- Follow project schedule and instructions.
