Roles & Responsibilities
As a Tiler, you will be responsible for laying and finishing tiles to achieve precise, durable, and visually appealing surfaces. Your duties include:
- Aligning and straightening tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges.
- Determining and implementing layouts to achieve the desired pattern.
- Cutting and shaping tiles to fit around obstacles, odd spaces, and corners using hand and power tools.
- Finishing joints, applying grout, and cleaning excess material with precision.
- Applying mortar or adhesives to secure tiles in place.
- Mixing and preparing plaster, mortar, cement, or glue to create a bed for tiles.
- Preparing cost and labor estimates based on materials and project scope.
- Measuring and marking surfaces for tiling according to blueprints.
- Leveling concrete surfaces and allowing proper drying.
- Building underbeds and installing anchor bolts, wires, and brackets where required.
- Preparing surfaces for tiling by attaching lath, waterproof paper, or applying cement mortar coats.
