Line Manager: Head of Engineering & Projects
As a Project Lead, You Will Be
Responsible for Leading and Managing Projects
- Lead Tier 3 (up to 5M) capital project studies including driving each stage gate review, supporting site, and M&S decision making process
- End-to-end capital project delivery including initiation, feasibility, design, execution, C&Q, handover, & close-out
- Lead and support project sourcing and 3rd party contractor & supplier management
- Foster a safety first, quality always culture throughout the project implemention
Managing Project Controls & Financials
- Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets and forecasts
- Develop and manage project schedules and track progress , ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
- Ensure that both project (e.g. PowerBi) and financial tools (e.g. SHINE) are updated on a monthly basis
- Implement financial controls to track project expenditures against budgeted costs
- Manage change orders and contract modifications to maintain control over scope creep
Drive Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with engineering teams to align project objectives with business goals
- Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, finance, and operations
- Ensure staffing of all engineering project resources and align cross-function strategic workforce plan to deliver projects
Handle Project Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare regular reports on project status, risks, and variances for senior management
- Monthly capital project reporting on all project KPIs for safety, cost, schedule, and resources
- Participate in strategic planning sessions related to capital investment decisions
Drive Quality & Compliance
- Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure deliverables meet specifications
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, statutory requires and company policies throughout project execution
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff within the project team
Requirements/Qualifications
Expected Experience
- Minimum 7 years of capital project engineering and/or project delivery experience as a Technical Engineer in pharmaceutical manufacturing or process engineering
- Proven experience in Project Controls on medium scale capital projects, within the pharmaceutical industries
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls, with a track record of managing project costs effectively
- Experience working in an engineering or maintenance environment, with a solid understanding of technical processes and requirements
- Familiar with industry regulations and local statutory requirements, ensuring projects comply with all relevant guidelines and policies
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, finance, and operations, to achieve project goals
Expected Technical Skills
- Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial engineering degree
- Project Management skills with professional project management designation preferred, e.g., PMP, CAPM, PgMP, PMQ, Prince2
- Proficiency in creating and managing detailed project schedules
- Expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial tracking to ensure projects stay within budget
- Strong skills in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks to minimize potential impacts
- Ability to analyze project performance data and generate actionable insights to improve project outcomes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with cross-functional teams and present project updates to stakeholders
- Regulatory knowledge with familiarity of GMP, FDA, building & construction regulations/standards
- Stakeholder & People Management skills working cross-functionally in a matrix organization
