Job Summary
Provide day rehab and day care services to clients at the Maintenance Day Care Centre (Marine Parade), maintaining a clean, safe environment and assisting clients with personal care and daily living activities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team (PT/OT) to execute individualized care plans for clients needing day care, maintenance, or rehabilitation services, ensuring safe and cost-efficient care
- Prepare rehabilitation and occupational therapy areas by tidying spaces and cleaning equipment according to Centre procedures and protocols
- Welcome clients and assist them with therapeutic apparel and escort elderly clients safely to the washroom before therapy sessions
- Support therapists by setting up, supervising, and assisting clients with therapeutic activities and exercises, including helping clients onto equipment, positioning them, and monitoring prescribed exercises
- Educate clients on proper use of equipment and exercise routines to promote effective therapy outcomes
- Manage inventory of rehabilitation equipment and medical supplies by checking stock levels and maintaining updated inventory records
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot rehabilitation equipment, reporting malfunctions to the Centre Manager for repair arrangements
- Assist in preparing materials for recreational programs and events to enhance client engagement
- Receive clients at the drop-off point and assist them safely to the Centre
- Perform basic data entry and retrieval tasks to support Centre operations
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by Centre Manager to support the Centre's functions
Required competencies and certifications
- Certificate in Therapy Services (mandatory)
- Communicate effectively and build rapport with clients and care team members
- Use basic computer skills in Microsoft Office (MS Word and Excel) to perform data entry and documentation
- Read and write in English for communication and record-keeping
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- HMI or WDA certification in Therapy Services (preferred but not mandatory)
- 1-2 years of experience as a Therapy Aide or in an eldercare setting to support client care effectively
- Ability to converse in Mandarin and major dialects to assist client communication
- Apply listening and coaching skills to support client engagement and therapy adherence
- Collaborate as a team player with multidisciplinary care teams
- Demonstrate a caring nature and interpersonal skills to build rapport with elderly clients
