Our client is a contractor in the construction industry and they have a few openings for the Tender Manager position
Core Purpose
The Tender Manager (Electrical) leads the tendering and bidding function for electrical engineering and construction projects. The primary objective is to secure profitable, compliant contracts by accurately forecasting costs, assessing risks, and managing a team of Quantity Surveyors (QS) and Tender Executives.
Responsibilities
Tender & Bid Management: Lead the complete bidding process from initial inquiry to final submission and post-tender negotiations. Develop pricing strategies to maximize win rates while protecting project profit margins.
Cost Estimation & Value Engineering: Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for electrical works (labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors). Identify cost-saving alternatives and run financial risk analyses to build in right-sized contingencies.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and allocate workloads for a team of Quantity Surveyors and Tender Executives. Review their cost estimates and coach them to minimize errors.
Contract & Risk Management: Review contract conditions to spot commercial risks and deviations from standard terms. Draft essential tender qualifications, assumptions, and exclusions.
Stakeholder Liaison: Handle clarifications and negotiations with clients, consultants, architects, and main contractors. Attend site visits and tender briefings.
Process Optimization: Maintain and update internal estimating databases, cost benchmarks, and historical pricing records to reflect current market trends.
Requirements
Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in electrical estimating, quantity surveying, or tender management within the construction sector.
At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a leadership or people-management capacity.
A track record of handling large-scale commercial, industrial, residential, or infrastructure electrical projects.
Strong comprehension of electrical systems, M&E construction, drawings, and Bills of Quantities (BQ).
Familiarity with standard local and international contract forms (such as PSSCOC, SIA, and FIDIC) is highly advantageous.
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM is a plus.
