Job Title: AC Technician
Department: Facilities Management / Maintenance
Reports To: HVAC Supervisor
Job Purpose
To carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and servicing of air-conditioning systems, including split units, ducted split units, package units, inverter A/C systems and VRF/VRV systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs of split, ducted split, package, inverter and VRF/VRV air-conditioning systems.
- Diagnose faults in compressors, fan motors, capacitors, contactors, thermostats, control boards, sensors and refrigerant circuits.
- Carry out refrigerant leak testing, vacuuming, gas charging and pressure checks.
- Clean and service evaporator coils, condenser coils, filters, blowers, drain trays and drain lines.
- Troubleshoot inverter PCB, communication, sensor and error-code-related faults.
- Check electrical connections, operating current, voltage, insulation and safety controls.
- Repair or replace defective compressors, motors, valves, expansion devices and control components.
- Attend emergency breakdown calls and restore equipment within the required response time.
- Record maintenance activities, readings, materials used and equipment condition.
- Identify major defects and report requirements for spare parts or specialist support.
- Follow approved safety procedures, risk assessments and permit-to-work requirements.
- Maintain tools, instruments and work areas in good condition.
Qualification and Experience
- ITI, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
- Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in split, ducted split, package, inverter and VRF/VRV systems.
- Practical experience in refrigerant charging, leak detection, compressor replacement and electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with major A/C brands and manufacturer fault codes.
- Experience in facilities management or building maintenance is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis ability.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycles and electrical control systems.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and equipment manuals.
- Familiarity with digital multimeters, clamp meters, manifold gauges, vacuum pumps and leak detectors.
- Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns.
- Basic English communication and report-writing skills.
