Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager (Technical Writer) in Entertainment Technical develops and updates operational, safety, and training documents. This role works with teams and vendors to create, maintain and recommend user-friendly documentation with the goal of upholding record-keeping standards for submissions to local authorities, project tenders, and external safety frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Documentation Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement new standard operational procedures, both critical and non-critical for all teams within Entertainment Technical.
- Work with respective teams and vendors to ensure established standard operational procedures are user friendly and easy to implement.
Documentation Maintenance and Updates:
- Maintain and update existing operational, safety, and training procedures documentation within the Entertainment Technical department.
- Recommend changes, modifications and/or removal of key documents or procedures to further define work operations.
Administrative Standards Development:
- Develop administrative standards and procedures that improve record-keeping, standardized training, standardized operations, or safety documentation.
Regulatory Submissions:
- Collaborate with teams and vendors to gather information and develop required documentation for local authority, project tender, and external safety submission frameworks.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in a related discipline.
- 2 years of operational experience in a position requiring compliance with written, technically oriented procedures or documentation.
- Experience in writing and developing training materials, or working in a related scope such as project development or product development is preferred.
Skills / Attributes:
- Competent in Microsoft Office suite, able to edit digital photographs for the purpose of resizing, resolution, adding labels, converting to monochrome, and masking to highlight important areas.
- Knowledge of advanced features of Microsoft Word including, but not limited to, formatting and style tools, tabs, templates, line spacing, tables of contents and graphics.
- Knowledge of the formatting features of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to create diagrams with the drawing tools in Microsoft Powerpoint.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form.
- Ability to generate accurate, to scale drawings, developing and maintaining standards for lineweights, fonts, units of measure.
- Ability to organize drawings in systematic fashion, including development of naming conventions, and revision history tracking.
- Intermediate to advanced competency in Autodesk Autocad software would be an added advantage.
- Willing to perform shift work, including on weekends and Public Holidays.
