Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Technical Support Engineer to join our Singapore operations, responsible for comprehensive technical support, installation, and sales activities for our specialized analytical instrumentation portfolio. This role combines technical expertise with customer relationship management and business development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Service & Support:
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and validation of analytical instruments.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of sophisticated laboratory equipment
- Provide technical training to laboratory personnel on instrument operation and maintenance procedures
- Prepare detailed service reports and technical documentation following field assignments
- Analyse equipment performance issues and recommend optimal solutions in accordance with safety guidelines
Customer Support & Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers across Singapore and regional markets
- Provide responsive technical support via phone, email, and remote assistance
- Address service concerns and provide solutions to complex technical problems
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for project deliverables
- Identify and pursue upselling opportunities with existing clients for service contracts and equipment upgrades
- Generate quotations for service and spare parts in response to customer inquiries
- Participate in technical reviews and customer presentations with account executives
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Diploma with preference for Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
- Strong foundation in chemical processes, analytical chemistry, and instrumentation principles
- Minimally 3 years of hands-on experience in repair and maintenance
- Preferred prior experience of working as a service engineer or lab technician in a commercial testing laboratory.
- Experience with analytical instruments, preferably in fuel and lubricant testing, tribology and material analysis applications
- Knowledge of ASTM, ISO, and other international testing standards
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electronic and mechanical systems
- Understanding of viscometry, oxidation testing, and physical property measurement techniques as well as chemical properties
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to travel within Singapore and occasional regional travel
- Experience working with multinational manufacturers.
- Knowledge of international and local regulatory standards for scientific equipment.
- Strong technical knowledge and relationship-building skills.
