Technical Supervisor - Fire Sprinkler Systems
Job Summary
Responsible for supervising and coordinating the installation, testing, maintenance, and servicing of fire sprinkler systems. The Technical Supervisor will oversee site activities, ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and relevant fire safety standards, and coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate fire sprinkler system installation and maintenance works at project sites.
- Read and interpret fire protection drawings, plans, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Ensure sprinkler piping, sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, tanks, and related components are installed correctly.
- Monitor site progress and ensure works are completed according to project schedules.
- Conduct inspections and coordinate testing and commissioning of fire sprinkler systems.
- Carry out or supervise pressure tests, flushing, functional tests, and other required system testing.
- Identify installation issues and troubleshoot technical problems on site.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, main contractors, and other trades to resolve site coordination issues.
- Supervise technicians, workers, and subcontractors and allocate daily work assignments.
- Ensure all works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable fire safety requirements, and company procedures.
- Monitor the quality of workmanship and ensure defects are rectified promptly.
- Prepare and maintain site reports, inspection records, testing records, material records, and other required documentation.
- Assist with material planning and ensure the correct materials and equipment are available for site works.
- Attend site meetings and provide updates on work progress, technical issues, and outstanding works.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings and documentation upon project completion.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and compliance with workplace safety requirements.
- Provide technical support to the service and maintenance team when required.
- Perform other technical and site-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Diploma, NITEC, Higher NITEC, or relevant technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Fire Protection, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in fire sprinkler / fire protection systems is preferred.
- Experience in supervising installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance works.
- Able to read and understand technical drawings and fire protection system layouts.
- Good knowledge of sprinkler piping, valves, pumps, alarm systems, and associated fire protection equipment.
- Familiar with relevant Singapore fire safety requirements and applicable standards.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Able to work independently and supervise workers on site.
- Willing to travel between project sites when required.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Workplace safety knowledge and relevant safety certifications will be an advantage.
Working Environment
- Primarily site-based with occasional office work.
- May be required to work at multiple project sites depending on project requirements.
- Must be able to coordinate with different contractors and site personnel.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines or attend urgent site matters.
