Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to join an established shipowner/ship management organization and oversee the technical performance, maintenance and operational readiness of assigned vessels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, review and systematically maintain regular technical reports received from assigned vessels.
  • Review and follow up on routine vessel reports, ensuring timely action on technical and operational matters.
  • Analyse vessel maintenance costs, PMS performance, technical KPIs and other relevant data to assess the overall technical health of the vessels.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency and quality of data entered by vessel crews into the ship management system.
  • Develop and maintain dynamic technical work plans and action lists in collaboration with the vessel's Master and Chief Engineer.
  • Monitor vessel maintenance and repair activities to ensure compliance with company and owner standards.
  • Conduct vessel visits as required and assess overall vessel condition, repairs and maintenance, crew performance, safety, environmental compliance and other areas requiring attention.
  • Discuss and follow up on vessel work plans, operating costs, spares, stores and other technical matters with the ship's command.
  • Prepare technical specifications and requirements for dry-docking projects.
  • Conduct and/or support pre-purchase inspections across the Asia region.
  • Assist with technical evaluations and analysis relating to vessel acquisitions.
  • Undertake additional technical and fleet-related assignments as required by senior management.

Requirements

  • Recognized qualification in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related maritime discipline, with relevant sea-going and/or shore-based experience.
  • Strong understanding of ship management operations and the implications of technical decisions on vessel performance and costs.
  • Good knowledge of technical administration, budgeting and cost control.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant ship management software/systems.

Experience

  • COC class 1 (Chief Engineer) minimum 4–6 years of experience in a similar Technical Superintendent capacity, preferably with container vessels. Candidates with a combination of container and tanker experience will also be considered.
  • Previous sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer is preferred, particularly on container vessels.
  • Candidates with sea-going experience on other commercial vessels such as bulk carriers or tankers will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in dry-docking and vessel maintenance projects.
  • Good working knowledge of PMS and SMS systems.
  • Experience with LNG/LPG vessels, dual-fuel engines or alternative-fuel technology will be an added advantage.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and positive approach.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
