Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day technical performance and operational readiness of assigned tanker vessels.
  • Monitor vessel machinery, equipment condition, maintenance activities, and technical reliability to ensure efficient operations.
  • Coordinate scheduled repairs, dry-docking, surveys, upgrades, and other vessel maintenance projects.
  • Review technical defects and equipment failures, recommend solutions, and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
  • Control technical expenditure and monitor repair, maintenance, spare parts, and vessel operating costs against approved budgets.
  • Work closely with Masters, Chief Engineers, shipyards, classification societies, contractors, and equipment suppliers on technical matters.
  • Ensure assigned vessels meet applicable class, flag state, statutory, environmental, safety, and company requirements.
  • Assess findings from inspections, audits, vetting activities, and surveys, and follow up on technical improvement measures.
  • Arrange the sourcing and delivery of critical spare parts, equipment, consumables, and technical services required by vessels.
  • Provide technical guidance to shipboard personnel and support investigations, reliability improvements, and fleet performance initiatives.

Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Studies, or a related technical discipline; relevant marine engineering certification will be advantageous.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in marine engineering, tanker vessel operations, or a shore-based technical/superintendent role.
  • Good knowledge of tanker machinery, planned maintenance systems, dry-docking activities, class requirements, and maritime regulations.
  • Able to coordinate vessel repairs, technical projects, vendors, shipyards, inspections, and maintenance budgets effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work independently and travel when required.
