Key Responsibilities
Fleet Technical Management
- Manage the day-to-day technical operations of assigned vessels.
- Ensure vessels are maintained in safe, efficient, and seaworthy condition.
- Oversee repairs, dry-docking, maintenance planning, and defect rectification.
- Provide technical guidance to Masters and Chief Engineers.
Compliance & Certification
- Ensure statutory, flag state, class, and company certifications remain valid.
- Maintain compliance with international maritime regulations and industry standards.
- Support PSC, vetting, SIRE, and external inspections.
Planned Maintenance & Performance
- Monitor PMS implementation and vessel technical performance.
- Control maintenance schedules, machinery reliability, and operational readiness.
- Analyze recurring issues and implement preventive solutions.
Budget & Procurement
- Monitor technical budgets and repair costs.
- Review requisitions for spare parts, stores, and services.
- Improve cost efficiency without compromising safety or reliability.
Audits / Safety / Improvement
- Participate in vessel inspections, internal audits, incident reviews, and safety meetings.
- Assist with SMS implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Newbuilding / Delivery Support (if applicable)
- Support new vessel delivery projects, engineering reviews, and handover documentation.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma / Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
- Sailing experience as 3rd Engineer / 2nd Engineer / Chief Engineer preferred.
- Minimum CoC Class 5 / Class 4 however Class 2 / Class 1 welcomed.
- Tanker & Bunker Barge experience highly preferred.
- Previous shore-based superintendent experience is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of Class / Flag / ISM / Vetting requirements.
- Familiar with PMS and SMS systems.
- Good planning, budgeting, and problem-solving ability.
- Able to manage urgent operational matters calmly and effectively.
- Strong communication skills with vessel crew, owners, and management.
