Job Description

Comaea Consulting is partnering with a leading shipping company to recruit an experienced Technical Superintendent for its Container Fleet.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the General Manager, you will take ownership of the technical management of a portfolio of container vessels. The role is responsible for ensuring vessels operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with statutory, class and company requirements, while maintaining high standards of technical reliability and cost control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the day-to-day technical management of assigned container vessels.
  • Ensure vessels remain compliant with Class, Flag State and international maritime regulations.
  • Monitor vessel performance and provide technical guidance to Masters and Chief Engineers.
  • Plan and control maintenance, repairs and technical budgets for the assigned fleet.
  • Coordinate surveys, dry dockings, major repairs and vessel modifications.
  • Conduct regular vessel visits to monitor technical standards and support onboard teams.
  • Work closely with internal departments, suppliers and service providers to ensure timely technical support.
  • Review technical reports, monitor vessel condition and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure company procedures and quality standards are effectively maintained.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Chief Engineer (Class I) with sailing experience on container vessels.
  • Minimum 1–2 years experience ashore as a Technical Superintendent managing container vessels.
  • Strong knowledge of planned maintenance systems, dry docking and vessel budgeting.
  • Good understanding of Class, statutory and ISM requirements.
  • Able to build strong working relationships with shipboard and shore-based teams.
  • Willing to travel internationally to attend vessels as operational requirements arise.
  • Organised, commercially aware and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
