Job Description

Job Summary

We are hiring a Technical Product Manager to shape the roadmap and delivery of Vanguard's software and platform products. You will turn customer, market, and commercial needs into clear priorities, feasible product scope, and measurable outcomes.

Working with the Business Product Manager and Engineering, you will balance customer value, technical feasibility, delivery speed, operational readiness, and sustainable cost. You will own product requirements and product-level delivery clarity, while each function retains ownership of its execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy and Roadmap
  • Own the product roadmap for existing and upcoming software/platform products.

  • Translate business needs, customer problems, and market inputs into technically feasible product initiatives.

  • Define scope, MVP boundaries, delivery phases, dependencies, and tradeoff options.

  • Evaluate roadmap decisions against customer impact, technical feasibility, delivery effort, operational readiness, speed to market, and sustainable cost.

  • Own visibility of build, run, and maintenance costs, working with Engineering and Operations to improve scalability, supportability, and product margin.
  • Business PM Partnership
  • Partner with the Business Product Manager as a peer product leader.

  • Translate market, customer, competitor, commercial, and business-performance inputs into feasible product priorities and scope.

  • Make joint roadmap and investment recommendations by balancing customer and commercial value with technical feasibility, delivery risk, operating cost, and long-term sustainability.

  • Requirements and Product Documentation
  • Develop product requirements, user stories, feature specifications, acceptance criteria, process flows, and product decision records.

  • Facilitate discovery, requirement workshops, and scope clarification with clients, stakeholders, designers, engineers, QA, and delivery teams.

  • Break complex requirements into sprint-ready, testable user stories.

  • Prioritise backlog items based on business value, customer impact, engineering effort, dependencies, and delivery risk.

  • Work with UX/UI designers to refine wireframes, user journeys, prototypes, and final designs.

  • Delivery and Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Maintain product-level visibility of delivery sequencing, dependencies, release scope, milestones, risks, and key decisions.

  • Align Engineering, QA, Design, Operations, and business stakeholders on priorities, requirements, acceptance criteria, trade-offs, and launch readiness.

  • Translate technical constraints and delivery risks into clear business implications and decision options.

  • Provide product direction during backlog refinement, release planning, beta programmes, pilots, and launch readiness while delivery teams retain execution ownership.

  • Launch and Continuous Improvement
  • Support beta and pilot programmes with the Business PM and delivery teams.

  • Collect and apply feedback from beta, pilot, early-adopter, and live-product stages.

  • Define and track product success measures with the Business PM, separating business metrics from product delivery and adoption indicators.

  • Monitor product performance, customer feedback, operational feedback, and delivery outcomes to identify improvements.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Computing, Engineering, Product Design, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated ownership of software-product roadmaps, requirements, prioritisation, and delivery trade-offs. Candidates from adjacent roles are welcome where they can show equivalent product decision ownership.

  • Proven ability to translate business goals, customer problems, and system complexity into successful software products or major enhancements.

  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, roadmap planning, prioritisation, requirements definition, backlog management, and release planning.

  • Technical fluency to work effectively with backend, frontend, mobile, QA, IT operations, architecture, and platform engineering teams.

  • Ability to understand APIs, integrations, enterprise platforms, web and mobile applications, back-office systems, and operational platforms at a product decision level.

  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, acceptance criteria definition, tradeoff management, and release planning.

  • Strong analytical, organisational, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders, obtain buy-in, manage feedback constructively, and align engineering and business teams.

  • Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, structured, and testable requirements and delivery plans.

  • Hands-on, ownership-driven attitude with the ability to create clarity and unblock decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to travel and collaborate with distributed teams across locations and time zones when required.

  • Mandatory proficiency in English and Mandarin to liaise effectively with Mandarin-speaking clients and stakeholders on business and system requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with platform products, B2B software, SaaS, APIs, integrations, fintech, operational platforms, or enterprise software.
  • Experience working with a Business Product Manager, Product Lead, Commercial Product Manager, or similar counterpart.

  • Experience coordinating product delivery across engineering, QA, design, IT operations, business stakeholders, and external clients.

  • Familiarity with beta programmes, pilot launches, release readiness, product adoption metrics, and post-launch continuous improvement.
