ADAS is seeking a capable and motivated Technical Manager to join our ADAS IDEAS Department, which focuses on integrated design, engineering support, computational modelling, performance-based design, sustainability, and digital solutions for specialist architectural and structural projects.
The successful candidate will support the development of innovative technical solutions for tensile membrane structures, ETFE systems, lightweight structures, façades, special roofs, architectural envelopes, another complex built-environment projects.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Manager will be responsible for:
- Leading and coordinating technical studies, design development, simulations, and engineering support for specialist projects.
- Reviewing project requirements, client briefs, architectural intent, technical specifications, and performance criteria.
- Developing design concepts, technical proposals, method statements, feasibility studies, and value engineering options.
- Coordinating with architects, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams to resolve technical issues.
- Supervising computational modelling, structural analysis, form-finding, environmental studies, sustainability assessments, and digital design workflows where applicable.
- Preparing and reviewing technical submissions, reports, drawings, calculations, presentations, and tender documentation.
- Supporting the tender and business development teams with technical input, proposal strategies, and preliminary design solutions.
- Providing technical guidance to junior designers, engineers, architects, and analysts within the department.
- Ensuring that proposed solutions are practical, buildable, cost-conscious, safe, and aligned with project requirements.
- Keeping the department updated on new materials, design technologies, simulation tools, sustainability trends, and industry best practices.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- A degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Engineering, Computational Design, Façade Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in technical design, specialist structures, architectural envelopes, façade, tensile membrane, ETFE, or complex building projects.
- Strong understanding of design coordination, technical detailing, construction methodology, and project delivery.
- Experience with structural analysis, parametric design, BIM, environmental simulation, or performance-based design will be an advantage.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to propose practical technical solutions.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Rhino/Grasshopper, Revit, SAP2000, Strand7, RFEM, ANSYS, ETABS, or other relevant tools will be an advantage.
