The AS400 Technical Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, and support of AS400-based banking applications.
The role ensures system stability, performance and compliance with banking and regulatory standards while delivering reliable technical solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead development and maintenance of AS400 applications using RPG, RPGL and COBOL400.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and code reviews to team members.
- Design, manage, and optimize DB2 databases on the AS400 platform.
- Collaborate with business and banking stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure application performance, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Support application enhancements, upgrades, and technical documentation.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6-9 years of experience in software development using RPG and Control Language (CL) on AS400.
- Experience working on Silverlake/AS400 loan systems in a banking or financial services environment.
- Proficient with DB2 and understanding of data structures and file handling on AS400.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues.
- Experience with SDLC methodologies and change management processes.
- Knowledge in SQL.
- Knowledge of Aldon / Arcad for software deployment automation on AS400.
- Familiarity with SFTP for secure file transfer.
- Experience with MQ for inter-system communications.
- Exposure to Direct Connect and external integrations.
- Understanding of release management and version control.
- Background in quality assurance and test support activities.
- Knowledge in Control-M.
