Technical Engineer (Rebar Detailing & Design)

You will act as a key technical and commercial driver within the production process, ensuring both operational efficiency and margin protection. Internally, you will optimise manufacturing feasibility through a strong understanding of machinery capabilities, material utilisation, and scrap control. Externally, you will collaborate with Main Contractors technical teams to review drawings, propose practical alternatives, and validate manufacturability. In addition, you will apply your expertise to accurately assess and secure applicable processing and logistics surcharges, ensuring all entitled revenue is captured and aligned with the company's profitability objectives.

1. BBS Review & Technical Interception (Cut & Bend)

Feasibility Review
Receive Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) from clients via the MES system or email, and conduct manufacturability reviews within the stipulated timeframe.

Technical Interception
Identify and intercept abnormal items in the BBS that exceed the physical limitations of the factory's machinery (e.g., extremely tight bending radii, ultra-short lengths that cannot be processed) before they reach the production stage.

Technical Clarification & Modification
Upon identifying unmanufacturable drawings, promptly communicate with the client's site engineers to propose alternative fabrication solutions (e.g., adjusting bending radii or modifying joint designs). Production orders are released only after mutual agreement is obtained.

2. Rebar Cage Detailing & Nesting Optimisation

Detailing & Drafting
Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, internal BBS breakdowns, and 3D exploded views (where required) based on structural drawings and client requirements. Ensure drawings achieve first-time approval and sign-off from clients.

Nesting Optimisation (Core Profit Driver)
Utilise professional nesting software to optimise material usage through scientific cutting plans and offcut management for rebar cages and daily orders. Strictly control theoretical scrap rates in line with company targets.

On-site Fabrication Guidance
Provide on-site technical support for complex or newly designed rebar cages by guiding welding operators or manual tying teams during first-article assembly and jig setup.

3. Surcharge Calculation & Front-line Billing

Batch Pricing
Collect and verify Delivery Orders (DO) from logistics drivers, ensuring accurate Time In and Time Out stamps acknowledged by the client.

Profit Recovery
Integrate BBS processing data with DO timestamps to calculate applicable charges, including:

• Technical surcharges (special processing fees)

• Logistics surcharges (waiting time/demurrage, weekend or night delivery fees)

Client Confirmation & Handover
Explain surcharge breakdowns to client site technicians or supervisors, obtain written or email confirmation, and submit finalised records to the Commercial Back-office for monthly billing.
