Technical Director

Mott MacDonald is advancing the next stage of our global delivery strategy, strengthening collaboration between our Asia Unit and the Global Delivery Service Centre (GDSC). As part of this strategic evolution, we are seeking an experienced and forward‑looking technical leader to be based in Asia and play a pivotal role in deepening integration, improving delivery performance, and expanding the technical breadth of GDSC's contribution to projects across the region.

This new senior position will act as a key connector between multidisciplinary project teams and GDSC capability. The successful candidate will help drive greater utilisation of global expertise, broaden engagement into engineering disciplines, and support consistent, high‑quality delivery outcomes. By championing both regional needs and global best practice, the role will help shape how our Asia markets deliver, collaborate, and grow.

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior technical leader to join the Asia Unit as a Technical Director. The role provides both strategic and hands‑on delivery leadership and management to enhance integration and collaboration between GDSC and Asia Unit projects. This includes driving improved resourcing, productivity, and workflow effectiveness.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have responsibilities and accountable for the following:

• Workflow, process, and productivity improvements: Elevating delivery planning and execution, with standardised ways of working and improved QA/QC practices.
• Resource planning and management: Ensuring effective and strategic deployment of GDSC resources across all markets in WIN and DO.

• Technical capacity planning: Aligning capability with market needs and identifying opportunities for new capabilities in GDSC to support Asia.

• Strengthening communication and alignment between GDSC and Asia teams. Acting as a senior regional connector between GDSC locations and markets in Asia alongside strong stakeholder management skills to ensure a clear articulation of need, common ways of working, and leadership alignment across both units to enhance collaboration and communication.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in technical delivery and coordination, design and engineering in an engineering consultancy environment.
• Experience with strengthening cost competitiveness and delivery productivity in an engineering environment.
• Excellent communication, influencing and articulation skills across a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally.
