The Company

Our client is a diversified industrial group with a growing footprint in power generation and infrastructure development. The organization is actively expanding its Independent Power Producer (IPP) portfolio, with multiple projects across development, construction, and operational phases. Operating in complex and emerging markets, the group focuses on building high-quality, efficient, and sustainable energy assets aligned with international standards and long-term investment strategies.

The Position

Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Chief Engineer / Technical Director will take full ownership of the technical function across the power generation portfolio, covering project development, engineering design, EPC execution, and operational performance. The role plays a critical part in shaping technical strategy, defining optimal plant configurations across thermal and other generation technologies, and ensuring projects are delivered in line with performance, cost, and timeline expectations.

The position will lead technical due diligence, feasibility validation, and engineering design reviews while providing key input into commercial negotiations, including performance parameters and plant efficiency benchmarks. During project execution, the role will act as the client's technical authority, overseeing EPC contractors, managing engineering reviews, commissioning, and performance testing to ensure compliance with contractual guarantees. Post-commissioning, the focus will extend to optimizing plant performance, maintenance strategies, and lifecycle cost efficiency, while establishing robust technical standards and governance frameworks across the portfolio.

The Person

The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineering leader with over a decade of experience in power generation projects, including significant exposure to thermal plants such as coal or gas. He or she brings a strong track record across the full IPP lifecycle—from development and design through EPC delivery and into operations—combined with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.

This individual demonstrates deep technical expertise in power plant systems, grid integration, and performance optimization, alongside strong commercial awareness of EPC contracts, performance guarantees, and risk management. Experience working in complex or frontier markets is highly valued, as is the ability to manage multiple stakeholders including contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies. The successful candidate will also bring strong leadership capabilities, with experience building engineering teams, setting standards, and driving technical excellence across large-scale infrastructure projects.
