Key Responsibilities:
- Substantive Editing: Review and refine technical documentation (manuals, API guides, new feature guides) for clarity, flow, and logical consistency.
- Technical Accuracy Audit: Cross-reference written instructions against software behaviour descriptions from engineering to ensure step-by-step accuracy for post-production users.
- Style Voice Enforcement: Ensure all content adheres to our internal style guide, maintaining a consistent professional tone across multiple writers and departments.
- Quality Assurance (QA):Perform rigorous proofreading for grammar, syntax, punctuation, and formatting errors that others might miss.
- Template Governance: Work with the lead editor to maintain and audit document templates to ensure they remain functional, visually cohesive, and easy for writers to implement.
- Feedback Mentorship: Provide redline feedback to technical writers, helping them improve their drafting skills over time.
- Compliance Security: Ensure all finalized copy conforms to strict industry security protocols and internal clearance standards.
Requirements:
- Experience: 2+ years specifically in a copy editing or developmental editing role within the IT, Software, or Media Tech industries.
- Subject Matter Knowledge: Must be comfortable navigating technical topics, including the nuances of the film post-production pipeline(e.g., VFX, color grading, or asset management).
- The Editors Toolkit: Mastery of Apple Pages, track-changes workflows, Markdown, and professional documentation platforms.
- Precision: An obsessive attention to detail you find the double space, the broken link, and the mislabelled diagram that everyone else missed.
- Education: Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Linguistics, or a related technical field.
- Workplace: The successful candidate will be expected to work in the Raffles Place office to interface with product management, engineers, QA and a variety of equipment.
