About the Opportunity
We are seeking a driven and customer-focused insurance professional to join our client's Commercial P&C Underwriting team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of commercial risks while working closely with brokers, corporate clients and internal stakeholders to deliver profitable business growth and exceptional customer service.
You will be responsible for leading a team of underwriters plus managed your own underwriting portfolio new and renewal business, supporting business development initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality underwriting and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, underwrite and price commercial insurance risks in accordance with internal underwriting guidelines and reinsurance arrangements.
- Manage new business, renewals and endorsements while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability.
- Support the achievement of portfolio growth and profitability targets.
- Prepare quotations, renewal documentation and insurance summaries while proactively managing policy renewals to maximise retention.
- Provide responsive and professional service to clients, intermediaries and business partners, addressing enquiries efficiently.
- Monitor premium collections to ensure compliance with company credit control requirements.
- Prepare policy documentation, certificates, cover notes and monthly management reports.
- Assist with day-to-day operational and administrative activities to ensure the smooth running of the department.
- Participate in business improvement initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or higher qualification in any discipline.
- Certificate in General Insurance (CGI) or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Experience in commercial general insurance underwriting
- Good understanding of commercial insurance products and underwriting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-focused with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Mandarin language skills would be advantageous to support Mandarin-speaking clients.
