Job Description

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a driven and customer-focused insurance professional to join our client's Commercial P&C Underwriting team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of commercial risks while working closely with brokers, corporate clients and internal stakeholders to deliver profitable business growth and exceptional customer service.

You will be responsible for leading a team of underwriters plus managed your own underwriting portfolio new and renewal business, supporting business development initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality underwriting and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, underwrite and price commercial insurance risks in accordance with internal underwriting guidelines and reinsurance arrangements.
  • Manage new business, renewals and endorsements while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability.
  • Support the achievement of portfolio growth and profitability targets.
  • Prepare quotations, renewal documentation and insurance summaries while proactively managing policy renewals to maximise retention.
  • Provide responsive and professional service to clients, intermediaries and business partners, addressing enquiries efficiently.
  • Monitor premium collections to ensure compliance with company credit control requirements.
  • Prepare policy documentation, certificates, cover notes and monthly management reports.
  • Assist with day-to-day operational and administrative activities to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Participate in business improvement initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Diploma or higher qualification in any discipline.
  • Certificate in General Insurance (CGI) or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Experience in commercial general insurance underwriting
  • Good understanding of commercial insurance products and underwriting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Mandarin language skills would be advantageous to support Mandarin-speaking clients.
