About Aprisium:
Aprisium is a deep-tech company developing innovative water quality monitoring and contamination detection solutions through advanced sensing, IoT, data analytics, and AI technologies. We are looking for a hands-on Team Lead, Engineering to lead engineering activities across product design, development, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
Position Overview:
The Team Lead, Engineering will lead and coordinate engineering activities from concept and design through development, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing. The role requires a strong combination of engineering design and development expertise, hands-on prototyping and manufacturing knowledge, and an understanding of software and coding concepts.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Engineering and cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into practical, manufacturable, and scalable engineering solutions. This role will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Design & Product Development
. Lead the design and development of Aprisium's analyser, sensor, and related hardware systems.
. Translate product requirements and technical specifications into engineering designs and solutions.
. Develop mechanical, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and system-level designs as required.
. Review engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and technical documentation.
. Ensure designs meet requirements for functionality, reliability, safety, quality, cost, and manufacturability.
2. Prototyping & Testing
. Lead rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development for new products and engineering solutions.
. Plan and execute prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and design validation.
. Identify design issues and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
. Work closely with engineering and laboratory teams to validate performance and improve product reliability.
. Support continuous improvement throughout the product development lifecycle.
3. Manufacturing & Production Engineering
. Develop designs with manufacturing, assembly, servicing, and scalability in mind.
. Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners on production requirements, tooling, components, and assembly processes.
. Support the transition of products from prototype to production.
. Establish and improve manufacturing and assembly processes, work instructions, and quality controls.
. Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
. Support troubleshooting of manufacturing and field issues.
4. Technical Leadership
. Lead and mentor engineers and technical team members.
. Assign and monitor engineering tasks, priorities, and project deliverables.
. Review technical work and provide guidance on engineering decisions.
. Collaborate with the Head of Engineering on technical strategy, resource planning, and product development priorities.
. Promote engineering best practices, documentation, quality, and continuous improvement.
5. Software & Coding Collaboration
. Understand fundamental software development and coding concepts, including programming logic, APIs, data structures, debugging, and system integration.
. Work effectively with software, firmware, IoT, and AI/analytics engineers.
. Understand how hardware, sensors, embedded systems, software, and cloud platforms interact within an integrated product.
. Support technical troubleshooting involving hardware-software interfaces.
. Translate engineering requirements into clear technical requirements for software and firmware teams.
6. Cross-Functional & Project Support
. Work closely with R&D, Chemistry, Deployment, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer Success teams.
. Support product deployment and field engineering activities when required.
. Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and external engineering partners.
. Prepare technical reports, specifications, test results, engineering documentation, and project updates.
. Ensure engineering projects are delivered within agreed timelines, specifications, and budgets.
