About the Course
Vertical Institute's Cybersecurity Course provides learners with essential knowledge and practical skills to protect information systems against modern threats. The curriculum covers network security, risk assessment, incident response, regulatory compliance, and security governance, preparing learners to safeguard data and systems effectively.
Classes are delivered live via Zoom during weekday evenings or weekends, led by an expert instructor supported by a teaching assistant.
Role Overview
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the instructor in delivering engaging and practical lessons. Your responsibilities include assisting learners during labs and exercises, providing guidance on cybersecurity concepts and tools, and offering ongoing learner support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in facilitating live Zoom classes
- Support learners in practical activities covering:
- Network and endpoint security fundamentals
- Risk assessment and management
- Incident response and recovery
- Regulatory compliance (e.g., MAS TRM, PDPA)
- Provide timely assistance and troubleshooting via the Telegram community and e-learning platform
- Track and record attendance according to SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) standards
- Share learner feedback with the course team to enhance content and delivery
Qualifications and Skills
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, tools, and frameworks
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, CIS controls
- Ability to explain technical cybersecurity concepts clearly to beginner learners
- Experienced with Zoom facilitation and equipped with a reliable home setup (webcam, microphone, stable internet)
- Previous teaching, mentoring, or TA experience is advantageous
